Warrior of the Wild Book Cover
Hi friends. Today, I’ll be reviewing Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller. I received this book as a Christmas gift in 2019. Last year, one of my goals that I had had was to read some of the books that I already have on my now growing shelf. I had been eying this book for a while and I thought that it was about time to start reading it.

Summary:
How do you kill a god?

As her father's chosen heir, eighteen-year-old Rasmira has trained her whole life to become a warrior and lead her village. But when her coming-of-age trial is sabotaged and she fails the test, her father banishes her to the monster-filled wilderness with an impossible quest: To win back her honor, she must kill the oppressive god who claims tribute from the villages each year or die trying.

My Thoughts:
After reading Tricia's other books, I knew I had to pick up my copy of Warrior of the Wild. I absolutely loved this story. Rasmira has been training to be a warrior and the next leader of her village her entire life. After failing her warrior test, she is forced into the Wild, a place no one has ever returned from. All failed individual are assigned an impossible mission they must complete in order to regain their honor and be welcomed back to their village. This story had such an interesting concept, which left me hooked from the very first page. The world building in this story was one of my favorites. When it came to the Wild, I was intrigued since you didn't know what was out there in the Wild. One wrong step and you'd be on the other end of a monster that would lead to your ultimate demise. When it came to the "god" that had been oppressing her village for so long, Rasmira was determined to slay the god and make it back home.

Rasmira had been through so much to complete her coming-of-age trial, only to be double crossed in the end. When she was sent into the Wild, I never knew the adventure that she would have to go on in order to reclaim her honor. Not only did she have to complete her own quest of killing the god, Peruxolo, but she was willing to help her new found friends in the Wild and help them complete their quests and in return help her complete her own mission. Rasmira was a very strong and stubborn character. She had determination when it came to wanting to reclaim her honor, but was willing to admit to the mistakes she had made, which led to her banishment when it came to failing her warrior trial.

For the two brothers, Soren and Irik, who were also banished from their village, they believed that they were never going to be allowed home. Their missions were decided upon based on their fear, which was why they though they were going to be banished forever. It wasn't until they met Rasmira and they realized the only way to make it home was to work together. Soren was a very charming and sweet character. He did everything in his power to protect his brother, Irik. Irik was a very sweet character as well, but he was abrasive. Thankfully, there wasn't a love triangle because Irik was already spoken for with his partner, Aros. I loved the adventure and romance in the story, the adventure kept me hooked and the blooming romance between Rasmira and Soren was very sweet and was kind of a slow burn romance because Rasmira was determined to only see Soren as a friend at first as she continuously shut him down on more than on occasion. Overall, I definitely recommend reading this book if you haven't picked it up already!
