The Ghost of You and Me by Kelly Oram - Book Review

The Ghost of You and Me Book Cover
How’s it going everyone. Today, I’ll be reviewing The Ghost of You and Me by Kelly Oram.  I've had this book on my kindle app since late March of this year.  After looking at my excel spreadsheet list that I've started using to keep track of what books I've read, need to read, and other small pieces of info that I use to keep track of for my reading goal this year, I saw this book and I knew that I needed a good contemporary story and this book fit the bill.

About the Book:
Title: The Ghost of You and Me
Author: Kelly Oram
Release Date: June 20, 2017
Genre: Contemporary
Pages: 311

My Rating: 5/5 ⭐️

Summary:
The tragic death of Spencer Schott unravels the lives of the two people he loved most—his girlfriend, Bailey, and his best friend, Wes. Secrets and guilt from that fateful night keep both Bailey and Wes from overcoming Spencer’s loss and moving on with their lives.

Now, nearly a year later, both Bailey and Wes are still so broken over what happened that Spencer can’t find peace in the afterlife. In order to put his soul to rest, he’s given one chance to come back and set things right...even if that means setting up his girlfriend with his best friend.

My Thoughts:
This book was amazing. I smiled, laughed, cried... This book is another one of my 2018 favorites that I've read.  This was such an emotional story, it was so hard to put it down. You read from the perspective of Bailey, a girl who has had the worst year of her life after losing her boyfriend and childhood best friend, Spencer, to a terrible accident.  When Spencer comes back to visit her from the afterlife, he has one mission in mind for the short time he has before he must return to the afterlife and be able to rest in peace.  Spencer wants to tie up all of his lose ends and make sure that Bailey and Wes can move on with their lives. In addition, Spencer asks Bailey to go and befriend his other childhood best friend, Wes, and reconnect with him so they can have each other. Even though Bailey and Wes's new-found relationship starts off a little rocky when they both start to work at the hospital as a graduation requirement for community service hours, they are able to connect with each other because of the one person who they both cared for.

Bailey, Wes, and Spencer are all great characters. They make the story not only fun to read, but you can feel the emotions that comes from each of these characters and the hardships that they've faced and are continuing to face throughout the story.  While reading, there was a connection that I was able to have with these characters that made the entire story very unique.  I liked being about to see the ups and downs of not only Bailey, but Spencer and Wes too.  It showed how they were all able to grow as characters.  Near the end of the story, I ended up crying.  I won't spoil why, but the story was not only was sad, but it was also happy at the same time.  This book was full of emotions and I enjoyed reading every minute of it.   I loved reading this story so much, I really suggest reading The Ghost of You and Me.  I promise, you won't want to put it down!

  2. This sounds like a perfect feel good novel. There is nothing like a sad story with a happy ending to cheer me right up.

I have not heard about The Ghost of You and Me before, but I am glad that you fixed that! I have been reading a ton of fantasy lately, so this might be the perfect thing to get me back into contemporary.
