Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum -Tell Me Three Things Book Review

Tell Me Three Things Book Cover
How’s it going everyone. Today, I’ll be reviewing Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum.  I'd seen the that this book was on sale a for a while back in early April, it was only until the last day of April that I decided to get the book.  Now, because of everything that was going on between the month of April and into May, I was so busy with school and other things, I didn't have the energy to read until May 18 when I decided that I needed to start reading again.  I've been keeping up with reading, but I don't know how long it will last.  Anyways, let's jump right in with this review.

About the Book:
Title: Tell Me Three Things
Author: Julie Buxbaum
Release Date: April 5, 2016
Genre: Romance
Pages: 332

My Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️

Summary:
What if the person you need the most is someone you’ve never met?

Everything about Jessie is wrong. At least, that’s what it feels like during her first week as a junior at her new ultra-intimidating prep school in Los Angeles. It’s been barely two years since her mother’s death, and because her father eloped with a woman he met online, Jessie has been forced to move across the country to live with her stepmonster and her pretentious teenage son.

Just when she’s thinking about hightailing it back to Chicago, she gets an email from a person calling themselves Somebody/Nobody (SN for short), offering to help her navigate the wilds of Wood Valley High School. Is it an elaborate hoax? Or can she rely on SN for some much-needed help?

In a leap of faith—or an act of complete desperation—Jessie begins to rely on SN, and SN quickly becomes her lifeline and closest ally. Jessie can’t help wanting to meet SN in person. But are some mysteries better left unsolved?

My Thoughts:
This was a good book, it kept me intrigued throughout the entire story. The story starts off by introducing you to Jessie and her current situation. I like that the story gave the reader some knowledge about what has happened in her life, which leads up to the point when she gets mysterious email from SN, a complete stranger, acting as a guide and helping Jessie in her crazy new world. Jessie is a pretty good character, she smart, shy, and very honest when it comes to talking to SN. I felt bad for her because she lost her Mom and was suddenly swept away to another state and kind of almost left to fend for herself.

For a few of the other characters…Ethan was a pretty laid-back kind of guy, he was kind and was sort of a loner who kept to himself and minded his own business. Liam was also kind of laid-back, but he was more outgoing and was also a pretty good musician in Jessie’s eyes. Caleb, on the other hand, was kind of a throw in character in my opinion.  I couldn’t get a good read on him other than his friendship with Liam and how all three guys of the guys that I have mentioned are in a band together. He kind of was just there.

Both Liam and Ethan were very nice to Jessie and I knew that one of them had to be SN, but I never actually knew who until some of the hidden clues started to add up. Also, props to the author for disguising her hints in a way that I actually overlooked who SN really was. One thing that I saw in someone’s review before I had purchased the book was how it was obvious who SN was. Not necessary true in my opinion.  Before the whole confrontation at the end of the book with all three guys, everything does start to add up and make sense once you start putting the pieces together. I also really like how SN and Jessie always exchanged their Three Things throughout the story. It gave the characters character by having them tell each other things about themselves that other might not have known about them. If you like books that involve mystery and sweet romance between two almost complete strangers, then I think you will love this story.
