By Your Side by Kasie West - Book Review

By Your Side Book Cover
How’s it going everyone. Today, I’ll be reviewing By Your Side by Kasie West.  If any of you follow me on twitter, I had tweeted out about trying to resist the urge to purchase another book because I had seen a a fellow book blogger tweet about several ebooks being on sale.  At first, I was doing good to not purchase any other books and trying to read what I already had, then I caved at midnight, May 25th, and bought this book and I was so glad I did.  I read a sample of the story a while back and I was super intrigued about the story, so I kept my eye out for a sale and I finally was able to get another great read.

About the Book:
Title: By Your Side

My Rating: 5/5⭐️

Summary:
What do you do when you fall for the person you least expect?

When Autumn Collins finds herself accidentally locked in the library for an entire weekend, she doesn’t think things could get any worse. But that’s before she realizes that Dax Miller is locked in with her. Autumn doesn’t know much about Dax except that he’s trouble. Between the rumors about the fight he was in (and that brief stint in juvie that followed it) and his reputation as a loner, he’s not exactly the ideal person to be stuck with. Still, she just keeps reminding herself that it is only a matter of time before Jeff, her almost-boyfriend, realizes he left her in the library and comes to rescue her.

Only he doesn’t come. No one does.

Instead it becomes clear that Autumn is going to have to spend the next couple of days living off vending-machine food and making conversation with a boy who clearly wants nothing to do with her. Except there is more to Dax than meets the eye. As he and Autumn at first grudgingly, and then not so grudgingly, open up to each other, Autumn is struck by their surprising connection. But can their feelings for each other survive once the weekend is over and Autumn’s old life, and old love interest, threaten to pull her from Dax’s side?

My Thoughts:
This book was amazing, I loved it so much! Autumn was a really great character. I did feel bad that she has anxiety, but I think it made her character extremely unique, compared to other character that I've read the past when it comes to romance stories. She was a very strong girl and she was able to deal with so much that had been thrown at her in the story. Throughout the story, Autumn was constantly trying to make others happy and do things that they wanted and tried to act like everything was normal, because she didn't want others to treat her differently. Even though I understand why she didn't want to tell them, I was glad that she was able to tell them eventually even if it wasn’t how she planned on telling them, if she was ever going to tell them. Dax was a really great character as well. He had a leave-me-alone kind of personality even though he wanted someone to care about him, even if he claimed that he didn't want to form any attachments to anyone. Even with the horrible rumors that had surrounded him, Autumn was able to get him to open up and understand him instead of just judging him based off of stupid rumors.  One thing that made me super interested in this story was how they were in the library for three days together without anyone knowing.  I think they learned more about each other than most characters do within a three-day period.

I loved the idea of this story. I think it was unique and it was a completely different kind of love story from other books that I've read in the past. The chemistry between these two characters was spot on, the story flowed really well. I liked how the story focused on Dax and Autumn being trapped in the library for the first part of the book. I feel like it was able to focus more on the relationship that these characters were creating and learn more about them than if they were outside in the real world, outside of the library. In a way Dax was the one guy that Autumn could be herself around, she didn't have to pretend to be someone else and both of them could be honest with each other, which made the story even better. I definitely recommend reading this story.
