Can't Wait Wednesday #27 - Kingdom of the Feared by Kerri Maniscalco

Happy Wednesday friends! Today, I'm back to talk about a new book from one of my current favorite series! The final book for the Kingdom of the Wicked series, Kingdom of the Feared by Kerri Maniscalco! If you follow my Bookstagram or Book Twitter, you may have seen on February 5th that I shared the early release of the book cover. After a fellow bookstagrammer shared on her own Instagram Stories that they found the cover prematurely released on Goodreads early, I couldn't believe it. As much as some people hate spoilers, I did not mind in the slightest, I was so excited to see the new cover! But if you missed it, then I'm here to catch you all up on the latest news for the series that I currently know.

Before I get too far into my post, be warned that the summary and my thoughts about Kingdom of the Feared will most likely have spoilers from the first two books in the trilogy: Kingdom of the Wicked and Kingdom of the Cursed. Now, let's jump right in with my thoughts! If you're not familiar with Can’t Wait Wednesday, this is a bookish meme that spotlights upcoming book releases books that we're excited for.

About the Book:
Title: Kingdom of the Feared
Author: Kerri Maniscalco
Release Date: September 27, 2022
Series: Kingdom of the Wicked #3
Genre: Fantasy
Pages: 464

Summary:

Two curses.
One prophecy.
A reckoning all have feared.

And a love more powerful than fate. All hail the king and queen of Hell.

Emilia is reeling from the shocking discovery that her twin sister, Vittoria, is alive. But before she faces the demons of her past, Emilia yearns to claim her king, the seductive Prince of Wrath, in the flesh. Emilia doesn’t simply desire his body, she wants his heart and soul—but that’s something the enigmatic demon can’t promise her.

When a high-ranking member of House Greed is assassinated, Emilia and Wrath are drawn to the rival demon court. Damning evidence points to Vittoria as the murderer and she’s quickly declared an enemy of the Seven Circles. Despite her betrayal, Emilia will do anything to solve this new mystery and find out who her sister really is.

Together Emilia and Wrath play a sin-fueled game of deception as they work to stop the unrest that’s brewing between witches, demons, shape-shifters and the most treacherous foes of all: the Feared.

Emilia was warned that when it came to the Wicked nothing was as it seemed. But, have the true villains been much closer all along? When the truth is finally revealed, it just might end up costing Emilia her heart.

My Thoughts on Kingdom of the Feared:
Before I can even discuss the synopsis of Kingdom of the Feared, my most anticipated book of 2022, I have to talk about the cover because, oh my gosh! I absolutely love it. But it's definitely creepy! I think the first two have their own set of creepiness to them, but I think it's the red ruby eyes on this cover. It looks like the book is staring back at you and into your soul. However, I think it fits perfectly with the previous covers. Now I'm looking forward to seeing the Barnes and Noble Exclusive Edition cover, which is being released on Wednesday, February 9th!

Now, the synopsis. After reading it, I'm utterly speechless. Because of how Kingdom of the Cursed ended, I'm so curious to see how Vittoria is now the potential villain in the final book (however my gut instincts say otherwise?). I have so many questions running through my head and I know all will soon be revealed, at least in about 8 months... Also, Kerri has mentioned on her Instagram that this book is not YA (Young Adult). This book is NA (New Adult). With all of the steamy and spicy bookish scenes that I saw in Kingdom of the Cursed, I have no idea how I'm going to react to these *cough* new scenes between Wrath and Emilia. I just know that I'm in for a ride based on the little teasers she's released.

Also, if you want to and haven't already heard... Not only was the cover revealed on Tuesday, February 8th, the first chapter of Kingdom of the Feared was released too! So if you haven't read it, go check it out! The first chapter definitely has some spice to it and some shocking reveals. Remember though, Kingdom of the Feared may feature spoilers from the previous books in the series, Kingdom of the Wicked and Kingdom of the Cursed, so read at your own risk!
