Happy Wednesday! This was an unexpected Can't Wait Wednesday post that I didn't expect to be writing, but when I received this email in early December, I knew I had to write a new Can't Wait Wednesday post about it! Today's CWW book is Forging Silver into Stars by Brigid Kemmerer. If you're not familiar with Can’t Wait Wednesday, this is a bookish meme that spotlights upcoming book releases that we're excited for.
About the Book:
Title: Forging Silver into Stars
Author: Brigid Kemmerer
Release Date: May 3, 2022
Series: Defy the Night #1
Genre: Fantasy
Pages: 400
Summary:
When ancient magic tests a newfound love, a dark fate beckons...Magic has been banished in the land of Syhl Shallow for as long as best friends Jax and Callyn can remember. They once loved the stories of the powerful magesmiths and mythical scravers who could conjure fire or control ice, but now they’ve learned that magic only leads to danger: magic is what killed Callyn’s parents, leaving her alone to raise her younger sister. Magic never helped Jax, whose leg was crushed in an accident that his father has been punishing him for ever since. Magic won’t save either of them when the tax collector comes calling, threatening to take their homes if they can't pay what they owe.
Meanwhile, Jax and Callyn are astonished to learn magic has returned to Syhl Shallow -- in the form of a magesmith who's now married to their queen. Now, the people of Syhl Shallow are expected to allow dangerous magic in their midst, and no one is happy about it.
When a stranger rides into town offering Jax and Callyn silver in exchange for holding secret messages for an anti-magic faction, the choice is obvious -- even if it means they may be aiding in a plot to destroy their new king. It’s a risk they’re both willing to take. That is, until another visitor arrives: handsome Lord Tycho, the King’s Courier, the man who’s been tasked with discovering who’s conspiring against the throne.
Suddenly, Jax and Callyn find themselves embroiled in a world of shifting alliances, dangerous flirtations, and ancient magic... where even the deepest loyalties will be tested.
On December 8th, I woke up to a very exciting Instagram post and email from The Cursebreaker Street Team. In both the post and email, it revealed the cover for Brigid's newest book that is set to release May 3, 2022! First of all, I have to talk about this cover because it is gorgeous! I love the turquoise background and the intricate silver detail on the sides of the book surrounding the fire in the center of the cover. It looks magnificent! It's definitely going to pair up perfectly with the previous books in the series and make my shelves look even better.
Now, about the synopsis. I absolutely loved the Cursebreaker series and when I first heard that Tycho was getting his own spin off series with some new faces, Jax and Callyn, I was ecstatic! Based on this description of the story, I cannot wait to see what happens. I can already tell there will definitely be some good drama, maybe some royal political drama and potentially a new romance for Tycho! I'm interested to see where this goes and I cannot wait for this book to be released.
