Clockwise by Lee Strauss - Book Review

Clockwise Book Cover
How's it going everyone! Today, I'll be reviewing Clockwise by Lee Strauss.  I found this book at the iBook store, just randomly browsing for a new read.  If you’re using the iBooks app, you can go to featured, select categories and scroll down to Young Adult, it will be in the Free Series Starters section at the bottom of the page, if you select the see all button.  I will also put the links down below on where you can get the book from a different place.

Now when I was looking for books back in December of 2015, I had been bored out of my mind and I needed a way to transport myself into a new book, since I had finished all of my other books and no new books had currently caught my attention, or I was waiting for the next one in a previous series to be published.  This author also goes by two names, Elle Strauss and Lee Strauss.

About the Book:

Genre: Sci-Fi

My Rating: 5/5 ⭐️

Summary:
Casey Donovan has issues: hair, height and uncontrollable trips to the 19th century! And now this --she's accidentally taken Nate Mackenzie, the cutest boy in the school, back in time. Awkward.

Protocol pressures her to tell their 1860 hosts that he is her brother, and when Casey finds she has a handsome, wealthy (and unwanted) suitor, something changes in Nate. Are those romantic sparks or is it just "brotherly" protectiveness?

When they return to the present, things go back to the way they were before: Casey parked on the bottom of the rung of the social ladder and Nate perched high on the very top. Except this time her heart is broken. Plus, her best friend is mad, her parents are split up, and her younger brother gets escorted home by the police. The only thing that could make life worse is if, by some strange twist of fate, she took Nate back to the past again.

Which of course, she does.

My Thoughts:
Honestly, I was hooked on this book when I first read the description.  I love reading about how you can put yourself in a situation that’s in the past and how you have to make sure that you don’t screw up, since playing with the past is dangerous.  It’s one thing to go back in time, know your history, and make sure you don’t change anything that could reflect badly in the present.  But it’s an entirely different story to keep one eye open at night, making sure Nate isn’t changing the past, and to make sure Casey takes him back to the present, since he wasn’t suppose to go to the past in the first place

When I was reading this book, I was learning about the Civil War era already and I thought it fit perfectly with my lessons, even though Casey’s story is mainly fiction.  The author combined history with fiction perfectly, which made me want to continue reading the entire series.  The first book is free in case you are wondering.

For now, thank you guys so much for reading this, I hope you enjoyed this review/suggestion and I will see you guys next time.
